Homework 2 - Two views of a dataset
Overview: In this assignment your goal is to present two different views of single dataset, either by presenting the same information in two different ways or by presenting different facets of the dataset. The goal is to create two visualizations the present the reader with complementary takeaways, providing a more comprehensive view of the data.
Requirements:
Choose a public dataset with at least 3 variables and at least 20 observations to visualize.
There are no strict restrictions on what dataset you choose, but you should aim to choose a dataset that is unique and insightful.
You will likely also want to choose a dataset that requires little preprocessing if possible.
Take a look at the data resources page for inspiration.
Create 2 separate visualizations of your chosen dataset.
Each visualization should present at least 3 variables. At least one variable should be shared between the two visualizations.
Each visualization should use at least one unique geometry and one unique aesthetic mapping. Any shared variable should use different mappings between the two visualizations.
Each visualization should include a descriptive caption explaining the context.
Cite and provide a link to the source of the data used.
Aim to make each visualization polished and legible.
